The Tilburg Institute for Law, Technology, and Society (TILT) is a multidisciplinary institute conducting research into the legal and social implications of emerging technologies. With almost fifty person staff and 25 years of experience, TILT has established itself as the preeminent institution in the Netherlands in the area of technology regulation.

TILT is consistently ranked a top institute for research and education by the Legal Research and Education Assessment Committees. TILT offers an international masters program on Law and Technology, attracting students from throughout the world. The program provides cutting-edge, interdisciplinary classes in issues of technology, law, and society.

In addition, TILT provides all types of postgraduate and custom-designed in-house courses within and outside Tilburg University. TILT combines fundamental and pioneering scientific insights with practical questions and developments in law, technology, and society. In addition, TILT actively contributes to ongoing public debates via wide media participation and commissioned research and teaching.


In 2019 the institute existed for 25 years, which was celebrated with a variety of programs.
